Welcome to Season 3 of The D-Girl Project – The Writers Room.
The D-Girl Project, in its fourth year and third season, is a free monthly on-going workshop for indie screenwriters, producers, directors, and content creators run by Atlanta Producer Linda Burns.
This 3 hour class requires reading screenplays and watching TV series, writing loglines and synopsis’, tracking character and story theme arcs, detailing story beats and structure, creating cast descriptions and lookbooks, and pitching ideas to the class and defending your work to the group.
This room serves as a forum for discussion, a safe place for experimentation, and a collaborative environment for honing writing, pitching, and packaging skills. Read. Write. Pitch. Workshop. Repeat.
In Season 3, we will work as a functioning writers room. The final writers group will create an 8 episode original TV series set in North Florida. All participants chosen to join the group will sign a work for hire contract, and in exchange will gain mentorship and a free monthly education in development and producing from a working producer.
To begin the process, we will have a 3-4 month “audition” process, where attendees will go through an accelerated program similar to what the group has been doing for the last three years. To get more acquainted with that process, please look at past assignments listed on this page.
Upcoming meeting times and dates:
September 16th – 4:30-7:30pm
October 14th – 4:30-7:30pm
Dec 2nd – 4:30-7:30pm
If you are unable to make these dates and times, you can still participate by doing the homework assigned and meeting deadlines. While you will miss out on the in classroom workshopping and discussion, participating this way still allows you to petition the group for membership at the beginning of 2018.

The first assignment will be published soon on this page.
