I was lucky enough to be a film consultant on this project.
I travelled to Bhutan twice, for three weeks each time. The first trip was a scouting and consultation trip, and we travelled from one end of the country to the other.
The second was mostly for pleasure, and I stuck closer to Thimphu. The main goal of the trip was education – to teach monks and the general public about independent filmmaking, as well as offering tips to help them with their own work. I had a blast spending most of my time with a young dancing monk that could speak no English, and I certainly couldn’t speak Dzongkha. I don’t know how we did it, but we laughed and pointed a lot.
It was an experience of a lifetime, and one day I hope to return and film a feature there.
